Ons bouwavontuur begint eind december 2009. We hadden enkele maanden voordien de grote stap gezet naar de aankoop van een woning. Een oud huis, gebouwd rond het jaar 1890 . Na overleg met de architect bleek het de beste beslissing om de woning volledig af te breken en er een nieuw op te plaatsen. Het spreekt voor zich dat dit even schrikken was, maar de architect kon ons overtuigen dat het verbouwen uiteindelijk veel duurder zou zijn. Eind december waren alle papieren geregeld en konden we van start gaan met de afbraak.
Om kosten wat te sparen wilden we zoveel mogelijk werkzaamheden zelf uitvoeren, want als jong koppel zijn zo’n grote investeringen uiteraard niet evident.
We gingen dus elke avond, na ons werk, met de voorhamer ons pas aangekochte huis, steen voor steen af te breken. Dit moest volledig gedaan zijn tegen de zomer, want vanaf dan zouden de eerste aannemers starten met de terug opbouw van ons nieuw huis.
Dit betekende dus in de sneeuw en de regen dakpannen gaan demonteren en dergelijke. We konden wel rekenen op de hulp van enkele vrienden die het natuurlijk erg plezant vonden om een huis met een voorhamer te bewerken. (Achteraf het steenpuin opruimen en weg voeren vonden ze uiteraard want minder leuk…)
Gelukkig zijn we hier uiteindelijk volledig in geslaagd en konden in juli de funderingen worden gegraven en werd de kelder geplaatst.
Voor ons was het nu even rust pause, want bij het metsen konden we niet bij helpen. Al hadden we er wel ons werk aan om tijdig we werkers wat bij te sturen waar nodig tijdens de werkzaamheden en werfvergaderingen te plannen. Vanwege de lange regenperiode, de hete zomer en de vele sneeuw in de winter liepen sommige werkzaamheden echter wat vertraging op. Toch konden wij in september toch terug van start gaan.
We konden beginnen aan de elektriciteit werken.
Nog vóór de ramen nog geplaatst waren, was dit het ideale moment gekomen om de geulen in de muren te slijpen waarin uiteindelijk de elektriciteit kabels zouden komen. Dit uiteraard omdat deze werken schade aan ramen zou kunnen veroorzaken. Het is natuurlijk ook handig dat het vele stof dat hierbij gemaakt wordt gewoon kan weg waaien. Vooraf hadden we alles met krijt goed afgetekend zodat we wisten waar de stopcontacten, lichtpunten en schakelaars zouden moeten komen.
